Do you have a tonne of pool noodles just hanging around your place from previous DIY projects? No? Just me? Well, for anyone else out there who LOVES DIY just as much as me, I have the perfect way to use them up. As for the rest of you, this tutorial is gonna make you WISH you had tonnes of pool noodles around the house (don’t worry, you can just go and buy some)!
That’s right, I want to transform my bed frame, and believe it or not, pool noodles are just the thing!
What do you need?
Let me show you how!
1. You have two options to start! You can either go buy some wood boards and ask very nicely for them to cut them to the size you need OR if you have leftover wood, you can cut the wood to size yourself using a jigsaw!
2. Next, get your pool noodles and cut them in half lengthways (so they’re no longer round). The amount you need will depend on how big your bed is!
3. Now is the time to get your fabric out. Cut it to size, then lay it on your desk upside down (so that the bit you want to be facing outwards from your bed is facing down on the table). Wrap the fabric over the first few inches of the board and staple it all along the edge.
4. Flip the board over and grab your pool noodles!
5. Carefully place one pool noodle against the edge of the wood on the side you have just stapled the fabric to. Pull the fabric over the pool noodle tightly and staple if to the wood on the other side. Careful of any creases or folds in the fabric!
6. At each end when you fold the fabric over, remember to pull it tightly between the pool noodles to get the best visual effect!
7. Now do this for the rest of the board until it is covered in the pool noodles and the fabric! At the end of the board, flip it over and staple the fabric just as you did with the first section.
8. Do this for the rest of your boards (except for the backboard - why waste your time on something you’re not gonna see, right?!).
9. It’s time to construct your bed frame! Use angle brackets to screw the board together around your bed, and then step back and marvel at your AMAZING work!
How easy was this project?! And so cheap, too! I hope you love it!
